Underwood Stakes at Caulfield

The $350,000 Underwood is on this saturday at Caulfield. The race features many high-profile riders including Viewed, Efficient, Master O’Reilly & C’Est La Guerre. WhoBeGotYou is the current favourite to win at a fixed price of $2.60. The highest odds are Kibbutz at $301.00.

Weather conditions for race day are not known yet, although they are expected to be fine. With the melbourne cup coming up in two months, it’s a good time to get stuck into horse racing and betting (responsibily of course). Although I’ve never shown a huge interest in horse racing, my grandparents always use to have a punt ‘at the races’. They loved it. My father loves it too, although he never actually places bets.

I’ve been paying close attention to all the races going on lately and its interesting to see the odds, how they change, and winners of each horse race. The favourite doesn’t always win, and i’m noticing there is a good opportunity to take a bet on a few underdogs and have them pay off.

I think i’ll start watching the horse racing on TV this weekend. You’d get such a rush watching the horse you just bet on run, especially on the run home as they all make a push for that finish line. It’s actually funny seeing all the crazy names that the jockeys come up with. Some are quite humerous and it adds an aspect of fun to the sport, while taking away a bit of its serious side.

I’ll be keeping an eye on the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield this saturday. Can’t wait for the race!
